Connecticut - Knicks "Read Aloud" at Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School in Bridgeport, Connecticut
February 27, 2006

On February 27, 2006, as part of the Knicks Read to Achieve program, Troy Bowers, Community Relations Representative for the New York Knicks conducted a "Read Aloud" at Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Students received a copy of The Hero Book, by Ellen Sabin.  Mr. Bowers read through parts of the book with the students, and each had the opportunity to discuss a hero in their own life.

The Hero Book is an interactive children's book designed to teach kids the importance of valuing people in their everyday lives. The book provides pages for students to write down the qualities that they think make up a hero. Readers are prompted to give examples of specific people and explain why they are admirable.
